Protection Whys and Hows

                                           Good Afternoon everyone!! Its been awhile since I have written a blog or post, Life has go me pretty busy!! A few weeks ago before life got hectic i was asked to write a blog about Protection workings. Well in order for one to protect themselves there are a few things you should understand about Protection. The first thing is that Protection workings only work if you are taking the proper measures to keep yourself safe as well.  Don't hang a protection charm in your car then zoom down the road with no seat belt on and expect the Wanga to work when you crash.. Guess what the spirits will probably laugh. Next Protection workings come in many different levels and forms. There is basic protection such as carrying around a crystal or herb charged with protection, to making and carrying around a Talisman or Amulet, or even a full blown Protection ritual. There is physical protection or psychic protection I will cover both in this blog. 

                                             The first form of protection I will address is basic forms of both physical and psychic. As a general and daily practice I always suggest you center and shield yourself every day at least twice daily. This creates a energy shield around yourself that nothing can penetrate. This helps protect against any negative energy from getting close to you and helps build your psychic abilities. I suggest shielding and centering before doing any type of Psychic or Energy workings that way you are relaxed and protected from any outside influences. Centering yourself brings all your energy to a calmer level and allows for better control of your energy.Both of these are things that help maintain your psychic hygiene. 

Centering

                                               Centering is a very basic and simple technique to perform. Many energy workers such as Reiki Healers and Energy Healers as well as Mediums and other Psychic will tell you this is a very good thing to help focus your energy so you can make your focus more intense. Begin by relaxing your body and getting comfortable. Bring your attention to your Solar Plexus the energy center of your body located right in the center of your ribs. See a swirling vortex of energy here drawing in the energy of your body as it gets brighter and brighter. Feel your energy calming and being brought to the center of your body. A beautiful golden light getting brighter and brighter as it grows. Keep this visualization as you begin to shield.

Sheilding

                                                 Shielding is just as basic as Centering yourself and should always be done together. The energy you center is used to make your shield. This is what creates the impenetrable energy shield around you. Begin by seeing the golden light rising in your body and become a bubble above your head. Now see the bubble of golden light get bigger and bigger until its big enough to encase your whole body in its impenetrable shield. 

                                            There are numerous ways to make working for Protection. There are working for general protection, for protection while traveling or protection from a specific person or thing. Its a very broad spectrum of magick. Here are a few different forms of Protection workings.

Amulets and Talismans

                                          Amulets and Talismans have been used for hundreds, even thousands of years. Ancient Celts used Knot Work and Symbols for Protection in battle and war. Ancient Egyptians would use symbols such as the Ankh and Eye Of Ra to both honor their Gods and Goddess' as well as for divine protection from harm. It is not uncommon to see Root Workers, and Conjure men and women wearing Cross Bone Charms. I have talked about Cross Bone Charms in previous articles as well as how to construct them. Cross Bone Charms are very simple to construct yet very powerful Amulets to carry. Other things such as Rosaries, Crosses, Pentacles, Star of David or religious symbol can also be a very powerful Protection Amulet and Talisman.

 

Gris-Gris(Gree-Gree)

                                           Gris-Gris are very powerful workings usually carried on the person at all times to call to them certain energy. Protection Gris-Gris is something that is usually a big thing for most of my clientele. Made from a piece of cloth, usually red flannel, with little trinkets added to it such as herbs, stones, hair, nail clippings, and other odd bits, activated and feed, then secured with string to be worn to otherwise attached to your person. Must be feed in order to keep its charge going, usually once a week. 

Protection Gris-Gris

• Red flannel
• String
• Red candle
• Protection Herbs
• Protection Stones
• Other Protection items
• Protection Oil
• Feeding Oil
• Protection powder

Begin by placing all the items, except the oils, powder and red candle onto the cloth. Anoint candle with protection oil and roll it into the powder. Light it and say: "Almighty Creator, I ask for the power to charge and empower this working with your Divine Protection, Angels, Guides, Loa, and Saints come and help me complete this working, Amen". Light the candle. Make a circle of protection powder on the altar and place the cloth and items inside of it. Place hands over the items and see a golden light entering into you head and coming out your hands and energizing and empower the items. See each one fill up with this golden light. Now take the string and tie the bag closed. Allow the bag to sit in the circle until the candle burns out. Once the candle is out remove the bag and either put it directly on or wrap it in a cloth until it is needed.

Protection Prayers

                                      Protection prayers are probably the most basic form of protection. They are charms pr spells calling on Deity to protect you and the only thing needed for them is your words and belief in the Deity you are calling on. I am a firm believer in the Loa, saints, and in the Creator. Here is a protection prayer I use every day in my daily rituals.

                                     Almighty Creator, Loa, Saints and Spirits, I pray to you to hear me                   

I ask you most Divine Beings to watch over me and protect me as I walk my path today

Ancient Spirits of the Four Sacred Quarter, I pray to you to hear me

Air, Fire, Water, and Earth, protect me, I pray

With appreciation, gratitude and honor I pray to you, please protect and watch over me
